I've tried your recommendation - and the one from Marisa Mack. After a little
fiddling with the code - some slight differences in declarations and include -
files a "rdate time.ndist.com" results in "couldn't contact timeserver": the
function timeout() is called. Do you have any idea on how to fix that / is
there the need for a specific negotiation with the timeserver to get the
requested information?
Along with this file I send the modified code; I would appreciate your
comments on that, I compiled with gcc -Wall -DLINUX rdate.c -o rdate.
Especially what regards signal() the compiler claimed about "passing arg 2 of
signal() from incompatible pointer type".
