hope i'm not being a pain...
Since last time, I've tried the 2.4 kernel (complete with obviously
broken io_readsl.S) on my A400
this seemed (first time) to almost work - I got an uncompressing
linux................................ done (or such)
followed by nothing.
I tried recompiling it again (found a file that seemed not to be
compiled with -mcpu=arm3) and this time it failed
horribly, taking the IDE discs partition table with it. (my fault, I
know :)
I have tried a 2.2 kernel, and It (after some tweaks) almost compiles
but for some undefined symbols that look kind of important, eg.
/home/ian/cross/tools/bin/armv2-unknown-linux-gnu-ld: warning: cannot
find entry symbol _start; defaulting to 00000000
arch/arm/kernel/kernel.o: In function `machine_restart':
/home/ian/cross/kernel/linux-2.2.17-rmk1/arch/arm/kernel/process.c:93:
undefined reference to `setup_mm_for_reboot'
arch/arm/kernel/kernel.o: In function `setup_processor':
/home/ian/cross/kernel/linux-2.2.17-rmk1/arch/arm/kernel/setup.c:129:
undefined reference to `__proc_info_begin'
/home/ian/cross/kernel/linux-2.2.17-rmk1/arch/arm/kernel/setup.c:129:
undefined reference to `__proc_info_end'
I also went right back to a 2.0.36 kernel, but this seemed to be so
broken I gave up.
*sigh*
any ideas on getting (preferably) the 2.4 kernel up, or (more
realistically) the 2.2.17 kernel compiled?
the 2.4 kernel does seem *excruciatingly* close to working.
also if anyone can point me at a working copy of splug.bas (not the one
from david pillings website) I would be very gratefuul, as I cant
extract Hform to restore my IDE disc without it :)
oh, and is the uncompressing linux..... thing done by the kernel, or the
bootloader (!Linux)?
