Hi all
I was trying to get the sound working for my assabet+neponset board.
Whenever I try "dd if=/dev/dsp of=/dev/dsp bs=8192", it produces a
hissing noise.
When I try to play a wav file using the splay utility, it again produces
a hissing noise, but what is interesting is that it produces some sound
at the very end. I am not able to figure out why this is happening.
Could someone tell me how to go about debugging this?
If I try "cat /dev/sndstat" I get
/dev/sndstat: no such device.
According to the Sound-HOWTO, this must give the specs of the card, and
such an error message means that the driver is not loaded. What I am
confused abt is how does it produce a hissing noise without the driver
being loaded? and why does it play the last bit ?
I have set the following options in the linux/arch/arm/defconfigs file
CONFIG_SOUND=y
CONFIG_SOUND_UDMA1341=y
All others are not set.
(Should I set CONFIG_OSS_SOUND? Setting this did not help.)
It is the same in linux/arch/arm/def-configs/assabet and neponest files.
Im not sure if there are any other places where I should change the
options.
I looked through the archives of the list and a couple of others faced
the same problem. But it was not mentioned what they did to correct the
problem.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in Advance
