OK, that should work but their are a fair selection of ifs and buts which can
trip you up. The latest info is in the faq at:

OK. You also need to remove the IDEFS partition table otherwise both the
installer and partman will get confused about which partition table they
should be using. There is a util 'WIPEPART' on the CD to do this in
Utils.APDL.

No - if you have got it formatted as an ADFS drive with the IDEFS partition
table deleted then it doesn't matter if the drive is connected to ADFS or
IDEFS (so long as you have Arcin rather than blitz interface (which you
have - and I expect that restriction to be lifted soon)).

You just need to change this in $.ARMLinux.DebianRun, but that's not needed
until after the the first stage install is done.

OK, in that case can you say exactly at what point you are getting stuck? You
should be able to leave things as supplied, do the hforma dna partman bit,
then start the installer, pick a keyboard, then get to the 'initialise a swap
partition' option. If you don't get there but get to 'partition a disk'
instead then it has not recognised your disk or partition table (almost
certainly for the reasons described above).
If something different has gone wrong you'll need to describe what.
