Hi
I was trying to bring X windows up on my assabet/neponset board. Since, I
did not have enough compaq flash, I decided to try NFS.

I ran the necessary daemons on the server ( my PC) and exported the
directory that I wanted to mount. I mounted it on my assabet/neponset
board. Till now everything is fine. I can see the directory listing
clearly on the assabet.
But when i try to execute anything from the NFS mounted directory my
problems start. I get 'nfs server not responding' message. Then sometimes
I get 'nfs server ok' and then again not responding.
I also get 'task <number> can't get a time slot'.

I am not sure what is happening. Could somebody help?

Also, when I mount the NFS dir on the board I get the following messages:

nfs warning: mount version older than kernel
RPC: sendmsg returned error 101
portmap: RPC call returned error 101
lockd_up: makesock failed, error=-101
<These messages repeat a few times>

But the directory is mounted fine.
Any suggestions/help is welcome.

My main attempt is to get the X running, and I need some space to put the
fonts. Any suggestions for alternate method without using nfs are also
welcome. I also tried making an additional ramdisk, but that takes too
much memory and when I try to run X, the process gets killed because of
need of physical memory.

Thanks in advance
KAR.
