A result of this was the creation of the sglibc project.

I myself was able to get glibc down to ~800k. The sglibc has glibc down
to ~775k, and the stuff HJ cut out is orthogonal to most of the stuff I
cut out.
Mind you, I'm still working at getting sglibc to work for me, but I'm fairly
confident that it will.
