I'm trying to build the toolchain and I downloaded binutils2.9.1 but when I
used it I got the following error while using trying to configure it:
*** BFD does not support target arm-unknown-linux-gnu
from bfd/config.bfd
I invoked the configure utility using ./configure --target=arm-linux
--prefix=/usr/arm242
I'm trying to build it on a RedHat 6.2 system, if that has any bearing on
the situation.
I was working from the HowTo by Wookey etc. Now right at the end of the
document it says I should be using version 2.9.5 as opposed to the web page
maintained by Phil Blundell that says 2.9.1.0.19a is the last one known to
work on the arm. (The Howto says phils site has up to date info, so I'm
confused.)
If someone out there could provide a pointer to a site where I can download
a version of binutils that they have successfully compiled I would be most
grateful. Or if there is something I'm obviously doing wrong and you can
put me right I'd also be grateful.
