There is a fundamental difference between the BIOS/PROM on
PC/workstations and the tiny bootloader for ARM systems: while the
former contains lots of hardware test routines, the latter assumes the
hardware works and only sets up a system in such a way that the OS can
boot. AFAIK there are no test routines available for boot loaders, the
kernel drivers are the tests.
