I haven't found this info yet, and have searched the archives
and the documentation at LDP.

In the boot process, what does linux need configured before it
can run? I have a compressed kernel image in memory and set
the program counter to it to start it, but what needs to happen
before this point?

Also need info about what files in the linux kernel require mods
for different hardware. This kind of goes hand-in-hand with the
previous question...if things are preinitialized then the kernel
probably doesn't need to re-set them, but if they haven't been
set it will have to.

Thanks!
