PAM (Pluggable Authentication Modules) is a system security tool
which allows system administrators to set authentication policy

If you do not have a shadow file, you most likely do not have PAM
installed. So I'm not certain about this.

You cannot use a 2.0.X module with a 2.2 kernel. Get the new ARM
FPEmulator from:
        ftp.arm.linux.org.uk
        /pub/linux/arm/fpemulator/fpem-2.2.5-armv4.o.gz
