It has come to my attention that the permissions of the various 
directories in the a.out/libc4 `stepping-stone' archive of rpm 3.0
are totally haywire, for some reason.

Obviously this doesn't affect cpio, for which the archive directory
layouts are designed, but tar certainly /will/ re-permission your
directories according to the permissions in the archive, including
making /bin and friends 700.

Either give the `filesystem' RPM a reinstall, or use the version of
the rpm package now uploaded to the ftp site.
