Hi,

 I'm trying to get hold of an ELF fpem.o which will work with a 2.0.36
kernel. I've put the

  fp::sysinit:/sbin/insmod -f /lib/modules/misc/fpem.o

 into my /etc/inittab. Initially this failed saying that the module wasn't an
ELF file so I downloaded 'fpem-2.2.5-armv4.o'. This tries to load (whingeing
because the module numbers don't match) but then complains about unresolved
symbols, leading to the same "respawning too fast" problems.

 I've had a look and the ELF fpem has things like "fp_printk" whereas the old
one has "_fp_printk". The new ones are obviously different from the kernel
ones, causing problems.

 Would it work to manually edit the symbol names? Or is there no other way of
fixing this without recompiling the kernel?

 Thanks,

  Tom
