yes, Ingo is working on porting his 2.2.x patches to 2.4-test5 so at least
when 2.4 will come out we will be able to provide an RPM to users
which want the 2msec latencies.

No the higher-end card won't help, it's a scheduler issue and
min-fragsize issue.
I can achieve 2.1msec on an AWE 64 or a Tropez+ with the same ease.
