I think .deb packages (a quick hack upgrade) are available as of now at my local page.
It should be uploaded to the Debian archive sometime...
add this line to /etc/apt/sources.list
deb http://www.netfort.gr.jp/~dancer/debian-packages ./
and apt-get update; apt-get install ecasound
