I wouldn't put myself in the same category as the inimitable Mr.
(Barton-)Davis and co. but I am fairly near (UK) and depending
on the date I should be able to make it easily. I can bring some bits of
hardware too, if I drive.

I think its an excelent idea. Maybe you could try RME for sonsorship?
There one of the few companies that might actualy want us to succeed!
