I agree it's a perfectly viable solution. However, I think that subdivision of audio blocks to prevent the aforementioned long parameter sweeps belongs into the host. It's true that for some plugins it is necessary to subdivide. But for the majority of them (at least those in CAPS) it's not. My stance is that if you do it host-side, you only have to do it once. This I hold to be an enormous advantage in itself, for all parties involved.
