Ok, again this is my personal, legally unqualified opinion, but it would seem then that the LGPL might be perhaps the solution for your case. Your plugin is still free software, open source, but the licensee is allowed to link proprietary code to it and distribute it. If you don't want anyone else than your clients to distribute your plugin along proprietary code you can license it to them under the LGPL and to the rest of the world under the GPL, as it is your right as the copyright holder.
