Constant power, but the mapping from angles to L/R ratios is
not very good (the regions near full L or R are compressed).
A simple second degree approximation works better. Try this
in gnuplot:

 plot [0:1] sqrt(x), sin(x * pi / 2), x * (2.2 - x) / 1.2
