Using WINE is out of the question for many users. regarding DISTRHO [-Plugin-Toolkit], currently it's licensed for GPL v2+, but I'm considering other options as the code needs to be embed for it to work (perhaps a full-free, commercial-like, license to help maintaining the project...?) it's still under development, so I haven't decided on this yet.
