I was going to say more or less the same thing, it would also mean that it was possible to exchange data between editors (I used to use two on windows, I don't see why I wouldn't want to on Linux) without exporting via wav. The editors of choice on windows were soundforge, vegas and cooledit, each of which had thier benefits, but I wouldn't have wanted them combined into one app, it would have been huge and confusing. Soundforge was great for mono/stereo files, and DX plugins, and vegas was great for multitrack data. - Steve
