The patent and previous publications should be looked at detail because analysing audio that way has been done for years. Sure, they have(?) a patent for their variant but they may have no right to beat analysis by these methods. The intent could be to scare people away from using spectral analysis in beat finding, and make us to waste time in reading previous publications. Does the patent even list references to research on beat estimation? Many patents don't list research other than other patents: they are trying to mislead us that there are no free research done in the field. If the beat is the same for the whole song, then one could check peaks at very low frequencies; the bass drum or the bass guitar. Just do it. Regards, Juhana
