Hello, As you may have heard, SEGA discontinued the Dreamcast, and you can buy them really cheap now. Looking at the specs, I realized that the Dreamcast would be a great standalone box for audio applications. And it runs Linux, or the open source OS KallistiOS. The CPU of the Dreamcast is a Hitachi 200 MHz SH-4 that does 1400 MFLOPS.
It's only an idea, but I wanted to share it with you. Add a midi interface to the Dreamcast, and you could build a great synthesizer. A tracker application would also be nice. What is really missing is audio input though... Maarten References: http://www.m17n.org/linux-sh/dreamcast/ http://www.segatech.com/technical/cpu/index.html http://cadcdev.sourceforge.net/
