Dear sir or madam,

I would have guessed that this was a FAQ, but could find no current
information.

   Is there a way to tap output from a program to /dev/dsp and record it
in a file or feed it into other programs?
  an example might be like:

dsptap /dev/dsp npr.dsp

realplay http://www.npr.org/news2a.ram &
at now + 6 minutes <<EOT;
#!/bin/bash
  kill $!
EOT

play npr.dsp

It looks like there used to be a paudio driver
http://source.syr.edu/~jdimpson/proj/paudio-1.0.tgz  that would allow
something like this, but it is terribly old, and clueless me cannot figure
out how to do something similar currently.

Thanks for your time,

Dave
