Oops. The linked-to article is by Frank Foti. Dan Mapes-Riordan's article "A Worst Case Analysis for Analog-Quality (Alias-Free) Digital Dynamics Processing" appeared in AES journal Nov 1999. It described a nice test method using a pair of swept sine waves around 10Hz apart to give an amplitude modulated signal which exercises the attack and decay of the compressor under test. As the input fundamental frequencies approach the upper limit of hearing, they decrease in loudness and the lower-frequency aliasing artifacts become more audible. John
