One other aspect to consider: there is a good reason why the typical 'pro' microphone cable is about 5 times as thick and 25 times heavier than anything that will fit in a mini-jack. There is just no space on a laptop or on anything that can be inserted into a laptop for decent connectors, nor are they mechanically fit to take the strain of even a few meters of good mic cable. -- FA Lascia la spina, cogli la rosa.
