The Intel chipset families with integrated graphics do not have RAM of
its own. Since the graphics chip is integrated into the chipset it can
use system RAM for graphics memory. An 'agpgart' kernel module needs to
be installed so that the kernel can allocate this RAM for the graphics chip.
*Can I use the agpgart module that came with my distribution?*
It is possible that your distribution contains support for the chipset
in your system. If so, your distribution should provide you with all of
the components necessary to make full use of your Intel chipset. If your
distribution does not contain support for your chipset, but does contain
an agpgart module, you will need to replace this module with the one
provided on the support.intel.com web site or obtain an update from your
distribution directly. *
