Gostaria de agradecer ao Reinaldo Dias, Renato Yamane e Rodrigo Klein, as
dicas e orientações recebidas sobre LVM. Ainda estou estudando o assunto.
Mas, o problema foi solucionado de uma outra forma. As atualizações
automáticas do RHEL 4 baixaram uma nova versão para o lvm que restaurou a
parte gráfica, com ícones e, aparentemente tudo OK.
Ocorre que, estas mesmas atualzações provocaram o ressurgimento de um antigo
problema já relatado neste forum e solucionado com a reinstalação do RHEL 4,
o do não funcionamento do DVD/CD-RW.
A solução encontrei no artigo "How do I configure LVM to stop probing my
CD-ROM if I get errors about the /dev/cdrom device whenever executing the
vgdisplay or vgscan commands?" - Article ID: 5834 Last update: 12-15-06
(portanto, recente) - no site da Red Hat. Ao executar os comandos vgdisplay
ou vgscan, manifestava-se o erro apontado no artigo. Seguindo o sugerido no
artigo - inversão, habilitação de linhas de comando:
"To control what devices LVM scans, the /etc/lvm/lvm.conf file needs to be
customized. Search in the devices { section and look for comments that start
with filter. Examples can be found below:
filter = [ "r|/dev/cdrom|" ]
filter = [ "a/.*/" ]
Its best to read the comments in the /etc/lvm/lvm.conf file for syntax and
a more detailed explanation. Simply put, the first filter rejects the device
/dev/cdrom and the default second filter accepts any block device with a
pattern match.
The order of these filter rules is important because the first one that
matches a certain device is the one that takes effect. Therefore if the
above filters where reversed then all block devices would be accepted
including /dev/cdrom."
Feito isto, passei, até o presente momento, a usar normalmente o DVD/CD-RW.
Mas, continuo observando qualquer anormalidade.
