libcom_err.so

Hi!

While looking at the memory address ranges reserved by libraries I found
that there is a "common error code library" libcom_err.so

I even have it installed but neither do I have info/docs for it nor could
I find it on Sunsite or MIT. 

Any hints on the purpose/usage/docs/urls for this library?
