Linked lists are a commonly used data structure. Check out books on 
languages
such as C, especially books that cover advanced subjects, such as a 
college 
text book, should cover this.

This is also the domain of data structure books. When looking for a data-
structure book, he language it is written for should not matter. It also 
does
not have to be a new book since the concepts it covers have been around 
for 
years.
