Well, I've tried with the 1.1.0 series and the 1.0.4 series (the latest
devel and release distributions) but to no avail. One thing I found
however is that it works when run through ssh! Very strange imo. The
devel version of gimp works fine and is almost the same as the release
version anyway, so I think I'll remain happy with that for the time being.
