Hi,

I have this problem that popped up a day or two ago. I have a couple of
Linux boxes here.
Box A serves as the NIS master. Box B is an NIS slave and it runs all the
necessary NIS
software, ypbind etc. It was working just fine until this morning when I
tried to login to Box B
with a valid login ID and password and I got the "login incorrect" message.
Now, it was working
just fine and I don't remember changing anything (perhaps I did, but I
don't remember). I tried
ypwhich and ypcat and all responded as expected (normal working order). I
noticed that I could
FTP into Box B without any problems. (At least that tells me that I am not
stupid enough to
be dealing with a simple "incorrect password" problem). Also I noticed that
all the user home
directories now have numeric ID's for their user and group owners. I also
tried restarting ypbind,
to no avail. I also checked hosts.allow and hosts.deny and they are both
just empty files. Oh,
Box B is running Redhat 5.0 with kernel 2.0.32.

Could someone shed some light on this matter asap?

Thanks for your help,
Lei
