You might also look into redhat 5.2. I had a lot of problems with the
redhat 5.1 boot floppy my self, but I just installed redhat 5.2 (from a cd
I made from the internet) and had no problems. If you don't have the
bandwidth to download the entire cd, you can just download the boot images
and do an ftp install.
