Try out 2.2; I upgraded to Slackware 3.6 at the same time as I upgraded to
2.2 - not entirely by choice, my hard-drive died.

Unfortunately, with Slackware the upgrade path should generally involve a
backing up of configuration file and a clean reinstall. Or, of course,
using pkgtool to remove all not-base packages and reinstalling the new
base packages over the old, then reinstalling all the rest.

ps Not entirely coherent yet; caffeine deficient.
