/var/spool/mail/username

Has anyone ever encountered this?  When checking mail from a POP3 client on
another machine, an error message occurs when there is mail waiting saying
"/var/spool/mail/usersname is being read already."  This only occurs on one
username, I can delete the /var/spool/mail/username file but once a new
message is sent, the error occurs again.

Thanks for any advice you can give.
