Hello all,
One year ago, I've installed the 3.2 Slackware distribution (kernel 2.0.29)
on my pentium 133 Mhz using 32M of EDO RAM (8M at rows 0 1 2 3).
Today, I would like to increase the RAM capacity by adding 32M at rows 0
and 1. I mean, 32 + 32 + 8 + 8 = (80M).
I've read on the "HOWTO memory" that beyond 64M I have to add the following
line into my lilo.conf file:
append = "mem=80M".
Even if I did this and the BIOS finds the 80M, free command returns only
64M. What's going wrong?
Another one point: initially, I've configured a swap partition of 18M. I'm
wondering if this is enough. Should I create a new swap partition or
increase the capacity of the existing one?
Thank you for your comments.
Yours sincerely. Pierre.
