Hi,
been trying to compile the latest .src for bind on red hat first using the
red hat .rpms method of '#rpm -Uvh bind*.rpm
which got me a verbose explaination indicating that the .src for bind and the
utilities were installed but that the devel could not be installed for bind.
ended off removing the bind*.rpms from my box and pulling down the latest
bind src from ftp.vix.com but guess what? has no problems doing the
#zcat nameoffile |tar xvf -
but although this exploded the .src for me i could not seem to get the
'Makefile'
to work for linux i got a access denied from root. The rights are 1411 for
user
and wheel for group and can't seem to chown or chgrp to change them. Also
since
bookmarking the Linux_DNS-HOWTO i see the new syntax for 8.x.x. but no
explanation
on compiling the sucker. Been surfing for several days now trying to locate a
howto or explanation on the exact process .But very unsuccessfully:'( could
you
please assist as even my 'DNS and BIND' book is of no use right about now and
am running out of options. Is their a step for step for building and
compiling
bind on red hat 5.1 or for that matter that would work with some explanation
on the settings to make at the ./Makefile end of things. This would be greatly
appreciated as seems to be not working for me period.

                                                Regards,
                                                        [EMAIL PROTECTED]
