I am trying to setup a dialin line on one of my Linux boxes to allow for
remote admin and network access from home. I have managed to get the modem
to answer, and to recognize a Win95 PPP connection and Slip connection.
Where I am running into the problem is that the netmask and gateway
addresses are not being given to the Remote computer with a SLIP connection.
When I have tried to use PPP, I find that I get disconnected right away. In
checking the logs, I find that it has not been able to negotiate a protocol
to use. What could I be doing wrong?? I am willing to use either protocol
for the dialup account, so if someone could help to get either one working
it would be greatly appreciated. I am currently behind a firewall, and the
configuration for the servers ethernet board is address 10.1.3.60 with a
netmask of 255.255.252.0 and a gateway of 10.1.1.1 I am trying to use
addresses 10.1.3.61 and 10.1.3.62 for the dialup connection. Thanks in
advance for any help.
