Hi Simon
I'm running RedHat 5.1 on kernel 2.1.125, so configuration may be
different. I had sound card support when I installed RedHat,
so was a bit worried when I changed things and lost it somewhere. It
wasn't that hard to set it up with isapnp tools though. You
WILL need sound card support in your kernel, and if you've never compiled
one before, it can be scary. Don't worry, read the
HOWTO- do the steps, it's not bad. A good idea is to save the
configuration to a file before you "save and exit." If you do this,
you won't have to go back and re-check EVERYTHING when you compile it the
next time, just the stuff that you change.
After read the man pages for isapnp and isapnp.conf if you need to, but
you might not. Your card should work with the kernel
drivers if you have a plug and play bios. It's the card I have and the
kernel drivers are the same regardless of the distrobution.
Mine stopped working because I turned my PNP off in the bios.
Good luck, if you need more help, email me. I'm glad to be able to help
someone else after all the help this list gave me!
