I'm running the stock Debian 2.1/Linux 2.0.36 kernel right now, and I'm
trying to re-compile it with some different options and with sound support.
I'm getting an error, though:

as86 -0 -a -o bootsect.o bootsect.s
make[1]: as86: Command not found
make[1]: *** [bootsect.o] Error 127
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/source/kernel-2.0.36/arch/i386/boot'
make: *** [zImage] Error 2

Then the compile quits. What is as86?? This is my first time trying to
compile a kernel, and I have no idea what that is.

TIA.
