Hi all,
I'm running RedHat 5.0 (kernel 2.0.35) with Xfree 3.3.3 on a pentium II
machine. Here are few questions or problems I have encountered recently:
While trying to install 'autofs' with rpm, i get the message : "error
fillup not found" and the suggestion: "compare /etc/rc.config and
/var/adm/fillup-templates/rc.config.autofs and update by hand. "
The first file does not exist but the second one does. What is the
problem and what should I do ?
While in text mode, when I execute some programs (like kernelcfg) I get
the message : "cannot find DISPLAY environment variable". If I'm under
X, I get execute it with no problem, so I tried to set the command
'startx ' or 'X' to this variable but none of those worked. What should
I set it to ?
I'm using Windowmaker, and I've tried with no success to have a program
that I've installed appear in the menu under windowmaker. For example, I
would like to be able to execute corel word perfect just by clicking
somewhere in the menu like I would do with netscape. How can I do that ?
When I configured Windowmaker, the configuration program told me that my
system could not handle jpeg libraries. I've installed the rpm patches
coressponding to that name (an rpm patch called libjpeg-6b-2_i386.rpm),
but still, the same message appear when I reconfigure windowmaker. How
can I have my system handle jpeg files ?
Thanks for answering,
Tanguy
