You should be able to set that from the X configure program but it seems to me that
you are running the wrong color depth and resolution for your hardware.
Look at the /etc/XF86Config file to see how it is set up and compare the info there to
YOUR hardware.
Does the CTRL-ATL-+
do anything for you?
