Greetings...

I recently upgraded seven machines from Slackware 3.6 running 2.0.36
kernels to Slackware 4.0. All are now running 2.2.11.

Everything is fine with one big exception: the main server (mail/dns) now
chokes at inconvenient times [name a convenient time<!>]. The symptom is
that the screen fills up with messages such as: "Out of memory for (name
any running process)".

Switching to another virtual terminal and beginning to log on gets a "Out
of memory for getty" on the screen.

I doubt it's soley the kernel as the other six machines are happy as
proverbial clams. Is there a major memory hole somewhere; is this
something someone has experienced themselves? Do I buy a Sparc?

The problem child is a Zenon P100 w/ 48M Ram, Buslogic SCSI chain
(2HD/CDRom/Tape), 3Com ISA netcard.

Any and all hints cheerfully accepted.

Cheers!
