If someone has a hunch I'd be glad to hear it. I am running RH6.0 on a P133 MHz running 3 IDE HD a Zip Drive. I also have a few SCSI dev but they aren't part of the problem! My config is: /dev/hda1 W98 2 Gb /devhdb1 /usr 1.2 Gb /dev/hdc1 / 800 Mb /dev/hdc2 /swap 200 Mb /home, ... are on the SCSI devices If I have all 3 IDE HDs declared in the BIOS, the installation will take 1h30 to install! If I remove all Linux IDE drives (hdb, hdc) from the BIOS it only takes 11 min! The Zip is never declared in the BIOS and the W98 drive is never removed from it!. The problem is that on booting I get a load of "1010101" rather than the Lilo prompt but if I add the HDs back into the BIOS I get the lilo prompt and it boots... but it's dead slow. :( I write the boot partition to the MBR /dev/hda1. I can not figure out where the problem might be so if you have a clue, mail me back. Thanks Ed.
