I believe this error is caused by the lack of a link from
/usr/src/linux/include/asm-i386 to /usr/include/asm
Once you do that, you should be set.
This an excerpt of ls:
[root@okurut linux]# ls -l /usr/include/asm
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 31 Apr 28 1999 /usr/include/asm
-> /usr/src/linux/include/asm-i386
