Hi,
The eudora password change server, for those who are not aware, is a
small daemon for the purpose of changing the password over the net. It
has a protocol systax much like ftp and is very simple to program
through scripts like perl and php3.
Essentially any script can be used to change the password for any user
after proper authentication.
I have ported the server to work with linux-PAM and do logging through
syslog. So if anybody is interested in the daemon to manage accounts at
there servers/ intranets please inform me and i will put it up at a
common place for everybody to download.
It is as safe as transmitting the passwords in clear text over the net
can be, so don't start a discussion on the security aspect without first
having used it ;-)
BTW: this is work in progress towards a common authentication scheme for
KDE ( other than kcheckpass or whatever it is called ;)
