Try this -- although this is not gurranteed to work, but it might work:
1. get any recent linux cd if u can lay yr hands on it...
2. use it to boot yourself into the system : u might get a lot of errors,
but this works for most systems
3.using this kernel make a copy of yr actual mandrake 6.1 kernel into yr fat
partition
4.use loadlin to load yr actual mandrake kernel, and then repair yr
system....
