what is the colour depth that x is using. by default x uses 8bpp. Try to
use it under 16/32/24bpp. that shud do the trick.

if it is the isa sound board then things are going to be real easy. it is
supported by the recent kernels and by rh6.1/6.2. but if it is a pci sound
card then you have only one option and that involves buying commercial
drivers for abt 30$ (abt the same as a creative pci128 card which is
supported flawlessly).
