This kernel is quite new and is too early to comment upon its features and
errors therein.
Kernel 2.2.14-12 is quite a stable one with added features for printing,
samba config., server config.

Fine, for a start I think redhat is the best option. Reason being redhat is
the only distribution which has some amount of stability after which Suse
has.
I am not saying that Suse or other dist. are not good but they are more
user friendly and you really can navigate around redhat's env. knowing what
is and going on in the background.
