in my experience for general web browsing, ipchains is definately slower
than squid, becauz squid caches a large part of the web traffic and thus if
u have a slow link (e.g. dialup/isdn) it can speed up things a lot.. though
most sites disallow caching of web pages.. things really speed up if u
impose even a short minimum cache of about 4-8 hrs.. and most sites load
just fine..
