It's set to Y now, but that's not informative.. since I've done a
make config on my sources. But AFAIK, the kernel does have ethernet
device support. There are also a lot of modules present in
/lib/modules/2.2.14/net . My hunch was that its something to do with
CONFIG_MODVERSIONS being unset. What do you say?

Is there a way to find out whether parameters like CONFIG_MODVERSIONS or
any others were set/unset in a kernel?

Whats kernel profiling?
